Dave's Memories
David A. Fredrickson
(1927 – 2012)
Ben Elliot, a Staff Archaeologist at URS Corporation shared this memory:
I’ll never forget witnessing a small moment between Dave and Vera Mae at an SCA conference in the early 2000s. I’m of the newer generation of archaeologists so I missed out on knowing Dave and Vera Mae Fredrickson directly. Many of my instructors, professors and supervisors however, learned their archaeology as well as many life lessons from Dr. Fredrickson and Vera Mae. I had long been informed of their status as living legends. I was passing through the lobby of whatever hotel the conference was taking place in that year and I spotted the couple walking together. As they passed, Vera Mae pinched what little posterior was available in Dave’s Wranglers. I just remember thinking “That’s Awesome!” I’ve got a smile on my face thinking about it right now. Now that I’m married with a couple of kids, that memory serves as an inspiration for me to never forget to keep the fun in my relationship with my wife.
